Lithium hydroxide monohydrate is a white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol. It can absorb carbon dioxide from the air and deteriorate. It is strongly alkaline, does not burn, but is highly corrosive. Lithium hydroxide usually occurs in the form of monohydrate.

Industrial grade lithium hydroxide:
1. Used as a developer and lubricant for spectral analysis.
2. Used as a carbon dioxide absorbent to purify the air in the submarine.
3. Used in the production of lithium salts and lithium-based greases, absorption liquids for lithium bromide refrigerators.
4. Used as analytical reagent and photographic developer.
5. Used as raw material for the preparation of lithium compounds.
6. It can also be used in metallurgy, petroleum, glass, ceramics and other industries.
Battery grade lithium hydroxide:
1. Preparation of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries.
